Kings’ Cage Cover Reveal!

Kings’ Cage Cover Reveal!

The other day when the third book on the Red Queen series was revealed to be King’s Cage I was dying for the cover reveal, and now it’s come!!!

I do have to say, it my least favourite of the three, but the colour is gorgeous. I’m nit a big fan of the crown, it just doesn’t look as glamorous as the other two, which is one of my favourite parts about the other covers. But the series will be so pretty together once it’s complete!

And like Mariana who did a post about the cover reveal (which I’ll link here because her blog is amazing), I can’t say anything about the little tag line “All Will Burn”, because I haven’t actually read the series, but I’m planning on reading Red Queen and Glass Sword next week at the cottage, and I can’t wait!

Let me know in the comments, have you read Red Queen and Glass Sword? What do you think of the King’s Cage cover?

Being Sorted Into My Ilvermorny House!

Being Sorted Into My Ilvermorny House!

When they anounced that you could be sorted into your Ilvermorny house I was beyond ecstatic. I knew it was going to be great and I knew I had to make a blog post about it!

So I took the quiz and…

I was sorted into the Horned Serpent House!!! I’m so excited to read about Ilvermorny and to hear about it in Fantastic Beast, and maybe The Cursed Child if it’s mentioned in there!

How about you guys? Have you taken the Ilvermorny quiz? What house are you in? Let me know in the comments, maybe we are in the same house!

The New Miss Peregrine’s Trailer!

The New Miss Peregrine’s Trailer!

Hey guys! Long time no post! Sorry about that, it’s just the end of the school year and for the past week I’ve been studying for my science exam but I’m glad to say that I had the exam this morning and it was good! Now I’ve just got English and French left but those subject come easily for me and there isn’t as much information to know for them. I’m just happy it’s summer for me now (well after my last exam on Monday). I also need to catch up on reading and commenting on everyone’s posts, I haven’t been able to recently, so if you haven’t seen me in the comments, exams is why!

But on Monday (I think?) a new Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children trailer dropped, and I don’t know if you’ve seen it yet, but guys it’s an actual trailer! Not just a teaser trailer! Click here to see it if you haven’t already, then come back to my post and we can discuss it!

I did a post for the teaser trailer of Miss Peregrine’s before I even read the book (seeing the teaser is what made me want to read the book) but now I’ve obviously read it and I loved it. My review for the book is here if you want to check that out!

Since this was an actual full trailer we got to see more from the movie, and more of the plot line. It’s reassuring to hear about the time loop and all that to know they are staying with the same plot.

We still haven’t heard anything about Jacob’s Grandpa, which I thought was quite a large part of the story, so I’m hoping they keep everything in about the stories he would tell Jacob and the pictures.

We also got character posters for all the main peculiar children, and they are all stunning.

I don’t know about you guys but, I’m really excited for this movie! I’ve still yet to read the rest of the series (I plan to get to them this summer) but I’m excited for the books too!

Let me know below what’s one new thing in the trailer that you are excited to see in the movie and which of the peculiar children is your favourite??

A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas Book Review

A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas Book Review

Title: A Court Of Mist And Fury

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Genre: Fantasy/Romance

Pages: 640 (according to goodreads)

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 5/5

Goodreads Synopsis:

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

Spoiler Free Thoughts:

I was dying to read this the second I closed A Court Of Thorns And Roses (which I read about a week prior to reading this one) and by dying I mean dyyyyyying. I was seeing it everywhere, hearing phenomenonal thins about it, I just needed to read it for myself and bathe in the wonderfulness. I was a tiny bit nervous about it being over hypes but I can happily report that this book was amazing, what everyone has been saying is true, it’s absolutely amazing.

It was over 600 pages, and it’s a tall hardcover so it’s a gigantic book, but in the end I still wanted more. I can’t believe I have to wait a year for the next one.

Now I can’t say too much without spoiling because this is the second book in the series but if you haven’t picked up A Court Of Thorns And Roses yet… what are you doing? The world these books take place in is absolutely beautiful, Sarah paints vivid pictures in my mind while I read about it and (without all the danger) I’d love to live in one of the brighter courts. I also think it nicely compliments the aspect of Fae in the novel.

The character development throughout the novel, especially in our main character Feyre. With her being in new places and experiencing new things throught the story, she grows stronger and you can clearly see that.

The book was never dull, I never wanted to put it down. Something was always happening but it all felt relevant to the story line, nothing felt like a “filler” in the books just to make something happen or cause drama. It was really entertaining and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering how it would end.

It’s been over a week since I finished this (yes I’m just writing my review now oops) but I still can’t decide if I like acomaf or acotar better! I am going to have to decide before the end of the year thoug because I know these both will be in my ‘Top 16 Books Of 2016’ post, they are that good. Again, I can’t encourage you enough to pick up A Court Of Thorns And Roses (and then A Court Of Mist And Fury). Even if you aren’t the biggest fantasy fan, I promise you will love these books.

Have you read A Court Of Mist And Fury yet? Let me know below what you thought (But please try not to spoil much for other people or note in your comment that there will be spoilers) I’d love to discuss it!

“What to read, what to read ?” How Do You Choose What To Read Next?

“What to read, what to read ?” How Do You Choose What To Read Next?

I don’t know about you guys but sometimes I have a hard time picking what book I should read. I’m having that problem right now actually because I just finished A Court Of Mist And Fury on Saturday but I have so many books to choose from because I got so many books for my birthday! I just don’t know what to read next.

I started the biography of Alexander Hamilton which is great so far but I’m thinking it’ll be a book I read a few chapters from each night before bed, not one that I take to school and dance, because it is incredibly large and very heavy.

I’m feeling in a big fantasy mood but I also have some new contemporaries I want to read! I just don’t know what to do! And usually when I’m struggling with what to read I will reread a book, but I have so many new books (and ones that have been on my shelf for a bit too) calling my name!

Maybe you guys can help me out, how do you choose what book to read next? Do you just go with what you kind of want to read or do you have a set tbr for each month?

My Top 8 Favourite Hamilton Songs!

My Top 8 Favourite Hamilton Songs!

Hey guys! When I’m not reading (and when I’m reading too actually), throughout the school day and even in the shower, you’ll catch me listening to the wonderful, Hamilton. I know, I know, this is a book blog but I just wanted to share with you guys, my top eight favourite songs from Hamilton.

Also, if you haven’t listened to Hamilton, what ????? It’s in Spotify, YouTube, iTunes, basically everywhere. Drop everything and go listen to it!!!!!! And if you don’t know what Hamilton even is, it’s a rap/hip hop musical currently on Broadway that is about on of America’s founding father’s, Alexander Hamilton. Yeah I know it sounds kinda weird, I’m not even from America! But it’s brilliant, 46 songs or perfectness and even if you don’t like rap in particular, there’s a bit of everything in Hamilton, trust me, give it a listen.

I’m also going to put one of my favourite lyrics from the sing at the end of each thing okie dokie!!

#8: Cabinet Battles #1 & #2

Oops this is two songs but THE BANTER BEWEEN THOMAS JEFFERSON AND ALEXANDER makes me laugh every single time, the battles are so funny. “Thomas, that was a real nice declaration.. Welcome to the present, we’re running a real nation.”

#7: Washington On Your Side

I mostly just love rapping Thomas Jefferson’s fast rap in this but it’s an all around good song. “If Washington isn’t gon’ listen to disciplined dissidents, this is the difference: This kid is out!”

#6: Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down)

Ah the melody of this, the lyrics, I love it all, especially the comedic beginning with Lafayette and Hamilton. “Immigrants. We get the job done.”

#5: It’s Quiet Uptown

After a tragic loss why not stick It’s Quiet Uptown in there to make more tears fall down my face. “Forgiveness, can you imagine?”

#4: Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story

The finale, the heartbreaking end. How could this not be on my list. Eliza’s whole part makes me cry, the end couldn’t have been more beautifully done. “I established the first private orphanage in New York City.”

#3: The Reynolds Pamphlet

THIS SONG GETS ME SO PUMPED even thoug Hamilton did a bad thing I LOVE THIS SONG. “Never gonna be president now!”

#2: Satisfied

This song is so empowering, Angelica’s rap is spot on perfect (I also am proud to say I know it all, although at this point I know practically the whole musical) and the heartbreaking truth of her and Alex being soul mates but not together makes it even better. “If I tell her that I love him she’d be silently resigned, he’d be mine, she would say “I’m fine” She’d be lying.”

#1: Non-Stop

End of act one, this song has it all. It has reoccurring themes from songs all throught act one, which is mainly why I think I love it so much, there’s a little bit of everyone and everything. It’s also non-stop, like the name implies, being almost 7 minutes long. I just love Non-Stop so much. “Why do you write like your running out of time?”

There’s my top eight songs from Hamilton! It was hard narrowing down the 46 so here’s some honourable mentions:

Guns & Ships (oh man I love rapping this one, ask my friends, I’m not too bad at it either)

Burn (I feel for Eliza when I sing along to this, it’s like Alexander broke my heart too)

You’ll Be Back (Gotta love King Geaorge III)

Wait For It

History Has Its Eyes On You (the first lyrics make me tear up)

Dear Theodosia

Take A Break

We Know (Reminds me of the fave, The Reynolds Pamphlet hehe)

Have you listened to Hmailton? Wha did you think? Do you listen to any other musicals? And if you aren’t a musical person at all, what kind of music do you listen to?

A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas Book Review

A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas Book Review

Title: A Court Of Thorns And Roses (ACOTAR)

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Genre: Fantasy, Retelling, Fantasy

Pages: 416

Format: Hardcover

Rating: 5/5 stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

Spoiler Free Thoughts:

I don’t really reach for fantasy much (well I do now because of this book) unless I have heard amazing things, and I had heard amazing things about acotar, so last year about a month after it came out I bought it, and it sat on my shelf for about a year. FINALLY I picked it up at the end of May and, well you could say I’m in love.

Even though in the past year I haven’t been reading a ton of fantasy, before that I read mostly fantasy. I got sucked into the world of contemporaries in 2015, but now having read more diverse genres this year I feel like acotar has got me back into fantasy and I’m so happy about that. Also this was my first Sarah J. Maas book and I follow her on Instagram and everything so I knew she was such chill and nice but now I understand why everyone loves her books!

It’s a loose Beauty and Beast retelling and I loooooooveeeeeeeeee that fairytale so that was one aspect that I loved. But it didn’t feel like she was copying that story, acotar still had its own story, the premis was just like B&TB.

The world building was so good. Everything was explained in a easy to understand way but the world wasn’t too simple or boring. There is a map at the front too so if I was every a bit confused I just looked at the map and I was like ah yes.

I really like Feyre, the main character which is good because if you don’t like the main character then that hinders your reading experience. She’s likeable and not annoying.

The overall plot is fast paced and interesting, I read acotar in less than two days, I literally couldn’t put it down. And once I finished I was dying to get my hands on acomaf.

If you haven’t read acotar yet, and you like fantasy, I highly encourage you pick this up, you will not be disappointed.

IT WAS JUST A REALLY GOOD BOOK!

May 2016 Wrap Up!

May 2016 Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I can’t believe it’s already May! I have exams soon and then school is done, summer here I come! (Aka reading everyday haha)

I had a GREAT reading month. I read 8 books which is the most I’ve read in one month this year, AND I really enjoyed them all, I gave them all either 4 or 5 stars (except for one oops, I just realized that now! But it probably looks like I give out 5 stars to so many books, I usually don’t, I’m kinda picky but I just read lots of good books this month!!

Now, since this is already going to be a long wrap up, let’s get stared!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare

I had to read this for school, and we read it out loud, together, as a class and I definitely think that took away from my enjoyment of this because my teacher made people read out loud and no one could read that good, especially Shakespeare… It just didn’t work out. I haven’t read much Shakespeare, but out of the few plays I’ve read, this wasn’t my favourite. I didn’t hate it though an ended up giving it 3.5/5 stars.

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone

Wow looking back at this at the end of the month it seems like I read this so long ago but it was this month! I’ve had Every Last Word on my shelf for like 10 months and I knew it would be so good and I’d love it but I never picked it up. Then when I read it it was so good and I loved it. BUT MAN THE ENDING DESTROYED ME. 5/5 stars for sure, I have a full book review, click here for that.

The Trials Of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

Then a bunch of new releases came out and The Hidden Oracle was my most anticipated May release. I love Rick’s books so much, I just always have such a fun time reading them so I wasn’t surprised when this book was amazing and PERCY WAS IN IT and ALL THE NICO AND WILL WAS PERFECT! 5/5 stars, no doubt about it. Cick here for my book review.

The Crown by Kiera Cass

Another new release I picked up and flew through in less than a day was The Crown! It wasn’t the most satisfying ending, it was a bit rushed, but fun to read just the same and that’s what The Selection series is, loads of fun. Plus Eadlyn was less of a brat ha. I rated this 3.5-5 stars and click here for my review, I talked way more in depth there!

The Beginning Of Everything by Robyn Schnider

I wanted to read another contemporary next so I picked up Robyn’s first book (I read and loved Extraordinary Means last year) and it was so good, and really heartbreaking actually which surprised me a bit (idk why though, I have read Extraordinary Means after all) but it was really enjoyable and just what I needed before picking up the next book I read, I gave it 4/5 stars.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

This was a hard read, it wasn’t long or anything, just a hard topic but it was super important and I rated it 5/5 stars. Also at this time one of my friends who doesn’t normally read was reading it for school so we got to chat about it which was nice!!

A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Next I finally had the courage to read the marvellous acotar, which I thought would take me forever to read but I read it in less than two days! THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING I NEEDED IN MY LIFE AND MORE.  I’m in love with it. Also it was my first SJM book, now I see why everyone’s loves her books! Obviously this was a 5/5 star book. Also I got acomaf for my birthday (which was on June 1st) and I’m a little over 200 pages in and it’s WONDERFUL.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I ended off the month by rereading The Hunger Games because we are studying it in English class and got lots of reading periods (so I thought why not spend two periods reading it) and I just felt like it too because I hadn’t read it in so long. It was just as amazing as I remembered, even better maybe. I think because of how popular and hyped the movie franchise, some people forget how amazing the books actually are, and they are incredibly sad too, I definitely had to try and hold back tears while reading it in class. 5/5 stars, same as the first time I read it.

There are my thoughts on the 8 books I read this month! In June I’m already making my way through two books but I don’t know how much reading I’ll get done this month because I have exams but hopefully I’ll still have time for lots (I probably will because the dance season is ending so I’ll only have dance one a week instead of everyday, which will free up lots of reading time!)

PS I for some reason couldn’t add pictures for some of the books… Which is frustrating, when I can I will!!

What about you? How many books did you read this month? Which one was your favourite? I think mine would be A Court Of Thorns and Roses, it was just so good!
