Good morning everyone! Guess what I have decided to start participating in? Top Ten Tuesday!

Back when I first started my blog, over a year and a half ago, I used to participate in Top Ten Tuesday, but for some reason (that I don’t actually remember), I stopped. Scrolling throught these posts every tuesday has been making me miss participating, so I decided to join back in on the fun!

If you aren’t familiar, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. You can check them out if you want to join!

*Disclaimer: these books are not in order!

#1: The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace

This is my absolute favourite poetry collection of all time. It was empowering and emotional, and ahhh just so good!

#2: A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

The whole Shades of Magic series honestly just blew me away, plus it introduced me to one of my new fave authors!

#3: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I finally caved on the hype and bought the whole series. Good thing I loved it! 😂

#4: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I bought this one because of the raving reviews as well, and I can confirm that it definitely lives up to all of the hype!

#5: The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

This was my most anticipated read of 2017, because Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda is my favourite contemporary EVER and Becky definitely didn’t disappoint. 👌🏻

You are probably thinking “Emma that was only 5 books.” And yeah I know but out of the 19 books I’ve read this year, these are the ones I loved enough to include on this list. Hopefully I’ll read some more awesome books in the second half of the year!

What were some of your favourite books that you read this year? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Also, I tried out something new for my header image and I don’t know if I like it or not. I am really struggling to find a theme and header image that I like…

  2. These are brilliant picks for this week Emma, and some of these are favourites of mine as well. I loved the whole of the Shades of Magic trilogy and I am so glad to see that on your list this week, V.E. Schwab is an incredible author isn’t she?
I have The Hate U Give on my list this week, and oh I’m really glad you enjoyed Throne of Glass too, especially considering you brought the whole series. 🙂

    1. Thanks Beth!!! Victoria is amazing, I am so excited to get into more of her books!

And yes it is relieving that I loved ToG since I bought the whole series hahaha, but I kind of knew I’d love them since I loved ACOTR!

  3. Thanks for the recommendations! All of my freinds are obsessed with Throne of Glass but I still need to read it. The Hate U Give sounds really good so I’ll have to add it to my tbr 🙂

  4. I loved A Darker Shade of Magic! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, too! The rest of the trilogy is just as fantastic. I hope you loved those, as well! And while I wasn’t much a fan of ToG, I fell in love with the second book, Crown of Midnight. I haven’t read the rest of the series, but I hope it lives up to the hype lol. And I have yet to read the other three, but I’m really looking forward to them. I hear really great things. I own THUG, so I’ll probably read that one first! Great list, Emma!

  7. I’ve read so many bad books this year, it’s my own fault I must stop picking books based on their tantalizing descriptions. I’m totally taken in by promises of betrayal, passion, war! But they are always total shit. Must bring myself to select books promising slow neighborhoods in the dust bowl where the hero finds a spoon and learns a valuable lesson.

  8. I see soooo many titles here that I’ve been meaning to start, but have fallen behind on due to my GINORMOUS stack of ARCs that I still need to get to (procrastination much?!?!?!).
I’m definitely looking forward to starting The Shades of Magic series just because the last fantasy that I’ve read and loved was The Night Circus and given all the hype going on about the trilogy here, I’m confident I will love it!
When Dimple Met Rishi sounds like it would fit well with the YA you got going on here, have you read it ?
I look forward to reading more from you in the future… Happy Reading 😀
